The Goldilocks Affect.

A variety of economist, biologist, scientist, and advocates expressed their factual details in the film The 11Th Hour. People like David Orr, Stephan Hawkings, Herman Daly, Sandra Postel and Betsy Taylor expressed, due to our distortion to the life system that gave us life, earth, opportunistic and greed spurred through the world. This catastrophe climate change has lead everyone to the conclusion of Property (nature) VS. Person and eventually property will win because not even the 26 best scientist in this world can stop this planetary destruction. Earth is an organism with an infection which is misleading the human species in thinking that this will end the life of what gave birth to us but it really will lead to the human extinction.

Different aspects like green house gases, coal, fossil fuel, oil the melting of the Arctic, has just lead to the tipping point of the world. The tipping point is when we loose control of climate change for example Katrina. The 30-35 percent increase of carbon dioxide and the 50-55 percent increase in methane in our atmosphere will just lead us to acid rain pattern and river flowing. All this occurred because nature was created into the human species resource instead of as nature. Consumers created their own nature with the new economic environment we live in now. Consumers created new forms of living by finding ancient resources of energy like coal, oil and fossil fuel. Due to the fact that consumers weren't satisfied enough with sunlight being our source of energy in the next century that will be running out as well when the oceans consume all of the radiation from the sunlight resulting in crop failure and no solar panel energy.

The consilience between faith and Gaila

Our reoccurring issue with global warming is like a fashion trend that is just thrown off once it is used up leaving the designers with no hope in success. According to The Revenge of Gaia by James Lovelock "...on 23 June 1988 he told the United States Senate that the Earth was now warmer than at any time in the history of instrumental measurements.....But somehow the sense of urgency about global warming heating faded in the 1990s". The history and future of our earth isn't taken as a joke but the warnings are being taken too lightly. Scientist and people like Mother Theresa are worrying about the well being of human life. What is the point of trying to save the human life with all this pollution and damaging we are doing to this earth if we don't even care about the form of life that allows us to live, earth.

Other planets like Venus and Mars have died off. You can heat it up in an 80 degree Celsius microwave and nothing will happen to it ; Heat the earth like that and the human race as we know it will be exempt from existing ever again. We need to listen to people like James Lovelock, Jim Hansen and Gisbert Glaser who all agree with the 'sustainable development'. The sustainable development is the continuous effort to balance and integrate the social well being, economic prosperity and environmental protection of this earth for this and hopefully future generations. Instead of listening to Mother Theresa and continuing to be 'tribal carnivores we should start listening to these warnings about what our life is and is going to become instead of brushing it off like a bug on your face.

Natural Forcings: human forces that influence the climate.

In the novel, What We Know About Climate Change, by Kerry Emanuel, Emanuel points out many significant issues that contribute to one another that can lead to our extinction. He specifies that our earth goes through a variety of stages that have been going at a constant rate. It has been a balanced out temperature for the past 2 million years. The same ice age has occur 100,000 years after another until now. Our change in temperature is due to the earth heating up already in 2003 a degree. If we continue to consume and pollute at the rate we are by the next decade this earth will continue to raise in temperature leading to the extinction of the human race.

Emanuel has said "an important and difficult issue in detecting anthropogenic climate change is telling the difference between natural climate variations-both free and forced-and those that are forced by our own activities" (Emanuel:37) Their are already natural forcings affecting our earth all the way back to the 19Th century, aspects like the greenhouse gases has started this whole cycle and slowly but surely contributing to this climate change more everyday. Emanuel has said that the temperatures that have been recorded in the last thousand years have been unprecedented. This proxy that we have been following is shaped like a hockey stick showing the significant change in temperature in the past 100 years. The imperfect proxy we live in now can be shown by the complex endeavor of a computer model of it last 100 years.

The Death of Nature.

"Speak to others the way you would want to be spoken to," said the chair of the meeting in the town hall meeting in Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana. With that said, wouldn't you want the truth to be spoken, not accusations or assumptions of what is to become of our living organism world of mother nature? Due to an abundance of oil spills throughout the years to our marine life, our marine life is being constructed for failure and disaster. According to A Hole in the World by Naomi Klein the actions of Barack Obama and BP will just lead this world straight into disaster. The drilling they said wasn't harmful after much testing of the land was a fail. The chemical dispersant they had sprayed on the oil was perfectly safe but according to government scientist, the accumulation of the Exxom Valdez spill and the Gulf War spill have yet to be cleaned up well til this day. The salt marshes and mangroves were still found profoundly dangerous after the governments supposed clean up. Due to their idea to "make [this] right" they have just hurt the marine life as we knew it before and after each oil spill. They spent more money to cause the spill then they did to fix it. All this has done is play a role unexpected. As assumed nature has a way to help the situation "but nature has not been playing along". The government, BP,Senator McConnell and Obama have yet to proven themselves right. With their "facts" gathered up that the best thing to do is drill but on top of that "Drill-Here, Drill Now, Pay Less". I believe this phrase basically outlined their complete actions of drilling anywhere in the ocean where they had thought they can control the oil. They payed for the disaster of this world due to misconceptions of what our living organism mother land can take.

Due to the fact that Obama and BP were bother proven wrong in what can be done to try and get us out of this energy crisis and on top of that they didn't follow through with helping fix this problem I have lost much respect for a man who holds my freedom and free will as a minority. Also, due to the rife actions that have occurred because of drilling in the ocean, what would make anyone believe that Obama could fix it when other oil spills from before his presidency have yet to be fixed. Obviously it was a possibility that the oil spill would occur so why not help contain or restrain the other problems. I truly dislike the fact that BP basically stated the oil spill as a joke and said "rather than [it being] a dire threat, a spill emerges as an all-you-can eat buffet for aquatic life". What about after the abundance of life in the ocean dies off what else would we have? What kind of life would we have? I believe we won't have one!

The Party has just begun.

In chapter 1, "Energy, Nature and Society", in The Party's Over, Richard Heinberg discusses about oil, war and the fate of industrial Societies. In this broad idea of his he speaks about how we as humans have created found a new source of energy. This new sources of energies are forms of coal, oil and natural gases. Of course us as just citizens don't think anything behind it but if we think about everything that has lead us to our modern society now, it has also lead us to our economic downfall. Each day it gets worse, and it just won't stops, who say that it won't get worse even in open or closed systems. An open system is a system where energy and matter is exchanged in the environment, a closed system is a system in which energy is only exchanged with the environment and not matter. As open and closed systems are affected today by global warming and oil crisis, our collapse, they will be affected by coal, natural gas and whatever oil is left due to the fact that their just as bad but just provide less energy to us which also happens to be a negative effect to us.

As said in the reading, due to five strategies our economies have grown. The five strategies are takeover, tool use, specialization, scope enlargement, and drawdown. The question is has it grown for the better or the worse? The larger our modern cities become the more energy need in order for it to continue to run and for us not to "begin to disintegrate". Although these strategies will allow us to expand our economy and give more complexity as well as social organizations, we must think about the negative effects on it; how it will it affect us in the long run like oil has.

Tradition VS. Disorder.

In chapter 5, Maya Collapse, in the novel Collapse, Jared Diamond discusses a variety of ways in which their collapse. Their collapse has been lead by the drought that had leaded them to their lack of main resource, corn. Also their collapse was lead by the forced action by Christopher Columbus, forcing them to convert into Christianity. In chapter one, Sleeping into the future, in the novel The Long Emergency, James Howard discusses specific aspects in which leads them to their downfall. Their downfall was lead by an economic and political disorder on a scale that no one has ever seen before, "Long Emergency". This economic and political disorder is about our global warming situation that has fled through the nation not as a political dispute but an established scientific consensus. Both readings are similar in which they both have collapsed. Although they both have collapse due to an environmental issue, Maya was an uncontrollable event soon to disperse on them and The Long Emergency was a ticking timer ready to go off, which was armed by people of the world. Both were effected in their global and economic society because these different conditions were just different aspects in which contributed to their economic and political downfall.

Although the Mayans considered their environment like a jungle they still treated it as if it was a holy piece of land. They filled it with artful statues that represented their culture. They continued their culture going by making it a tradition to hand it down from father to son. The United States had a great amount of abuse for their land; although some of the abuse was beneficial to our economies resources, but the way it has lead to our economic downfall isn't beneficial. The oil machines, the oil based cans, the oil that is used with every piece of energy we have can be blamed for our economic downfall. These two collapses defer because of how we treated our land, "homes". The Mayans took more care of it then the United States did their, although not on purpose, it still lead both of us to their Collapse which wasn't predictable on the Mayans part, but for us, it was.

A False Identity.

The United States has absolutely no power, what it has is money that allows it to portray the idea of having power with its paradox and hypocrite actions of trying to actually give freedom, life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness to, in reality, only people with money. In the first chapter of The Limits of Power: The End of American Exceptionalism, Andrew J. Bacevich discusses the idea behind how far power can go. It may go as far as taking someone’s liberty to then offering it back after years of their expelled calories drenched in our dirt as a piece of evidence for our history. It has always been the one characteristic Americans have tried to acquire, but what is so suspicious about this power would be the contemporary Americans that try to acquire it and end up reaching now where near this idea that reflects the American Dream. Contemporary Americans can be broken down as thus far: CON-TEMPORARY as in a Convict imprisoned in a state of hypocrite and a Temporary life of unrealistic goals that they set themselves too.

The different powers are as follows: power over war, a variety of resources ranging from limitations to weaponry, success as a "leader", whatever that means to this country and then power by having a false identity. In this chapter one particular moment that sparks interest to the audience occurs when Bacevich states "from World War II into the 1960s, more power abroad meant greater abundance at home, which, in turn, paved the way for greater freedom". An explanation of the kind of freedom that was given in the 1960s with the use of power is a very specific topic that NEEDS to be explained to the American Society because the white people in America at that time weren't the one trying to give freedom; however, they were trying to take it. Black men, like Martin Luther King, that had some power actually stood for justice against racial segregation and with the help of William F. Buckley it has became true in the 1960s.The power of government can also be explained as just a hypocritical name, named after the governments sayings of how they will help other countries to be more advanced and be more modern but how can that happen if they forcibly take their important resources like weaponry and limited resources leading to the fact that they have a false identity.
